Our Story

We met in 2003 at a singles ward. Jon had just moved into the ward that Summer, and I was still living at home finishing up my degree. My parents were called to be in the bishopric of the singles ward. When they were called, my mom begged me to come to church with them. But, I was happy going to church in my home ward.

The first time I met Carrie’s mom was at a Thanksgiving dinner. Her mom was serving mashed potatoes. When I held my plate out to get some she said, “I have a daughter that I want you to take out.” I looked at her like, “are you crazy?” Then I just asked for more potatoes.

After the Thanksgiving dinner my mom came home and told me all about Jon. She was sure that he was supposed to be my husband. Well, I kind-of put it out of my mind for a while, but I found myself thinking a lot about Jon, and I hadn’t even met him.

The first time I saw Carrie was on a Sunday afternoon. Her and her mom were walking down the hall. When I walked past them, her mom said, “Jon this is my daughter that I want you to take out.” I stood there, not knowing what to say. Then Carrie spoke up and said, “hey, it would be fun to hang-out sometime.” I was relieved that Carrie had said something. As I walked away I thought, “Well, Carrie seems pretty cool.”

We started dating. And after a few months we both knew that my mom was right, and we fell in love. One of my favorite things about Jon was that he was so easy to talk to, and he made me laugh! I found out that he was the most kind and patient person I had ever known- I knew that I wanted him forever!

It didn’t take too long for me to realize Carrie and I had to be together. I loved how fun she was. I also loved just sitting and talking to her. I soon realized that she has the best laugh; and on top of it all, she was kind and loving.

We were married in October in the Salt Lake temple. Life together is better than either one of us ever imagined.
After we had been married for a almost a year, we decided that we wanted to try and have children. Well, after years of medicine, surgeries, and medical procedures we have been unable to have children. After we had been trying for a few years, we prayed that Heavenly Father would provide us a way that we could have children. That's when we started looking into adoption. We quickly learned that adoption is a miracle. Since that time, we have been hopeful and excited about adoption.
